Education:

Adam earned a Juris Doctor (law degree) from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law, graduating with honors. He earned an advanced law degree (LL.M) in tax law from the Georgetown University Law Center, graduating with distinction. After practicing with large law firms for more than six years, Adam started his own firm in the spring of 2010, to facilitate his growing business enterprises and to focus his practice on representing small businesses. Prior to moving out on his own, he practiced in the Colorado Springs offices of one of Colorado’s most respected and oldest continuing firms. Before that, Adam practiced with Kansas’s largest and oldest continuing firm.

Community Service:

Adam remains active in the community. He devotes extensive time to the Boy Scouts of America. He earned the rank of Eagle Scout in his youth. He is currently an Assistant Scout Master for his son’s troop, working with the new-Scout patrol. He also currently serves on the Jamboree District Committee, as its the Advancement Chair. Adam also presently services on the Pikes Peak Council’s Risk Management Committee and Advancement Committee. He was previously an Assistant District Commissioner in the Ute District, and served as a Unit Commissioner for multiple Boy Scout and Venture units. He has previously served on the Ute District Training Committee, and as the Pack Trainer for his son’s Cub Scout Pack. Adam is also a merit badge counselor for a number of merit badges, including, Law, Photography, Cinematography, and Rifle Shooting. He is a former Scout Master, and has been privileged to serve multiple times as a faculty member for the Council’s University of Scouting and as a Wood Badge staff member (as a proud Buffalo).

Military Service:

Adam served as an enlisted soldier before attending law school. However, with the events of September 11, 2001, he felt the need to resume his military service, and re-enlisted just two days later, serving in various combat-arms capacities. While in law school Adam completed the Army R.O.T.C. program, and accepted a commission as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Ohio Army National Guard, where he served as a fire support officer attached to a mechanized infantry unit.

After moving to Kansas, Adam accepted a special commission as a JAG Officer with the Kansas Army National Guard, working out of Fort Leavenworth. As a JAG, he served as a Contract Law Officer with the 35th Infantry Division, and then as Trial Defense Counsel, focused on defending soldiers in all types of criminal and administrative matters. Adam eventually resigned his commission to start his own law firm, with 12 years of service, including five years as a JAG officer and seven years of combat arms service.

Biography:

Adam currently represents businesses, business owners, and other individuals in all matters of business and tax law. He actively negotiates and drafts business contracts, documents, and agreements. He aggressively resolves business disputes, and protects his client’s interests through assertive demand letters. Adam vigorously takes on the I.R.S. to reduce or resolve tax liabilities and audits. He also provides sophisticated tax planning for all business matters.

Adam provides competent real estate advice as his clients expand. He protects their intellectual property rights through non-disclosure agreements, and by preparing and filing applications for trademarks. He proactively addresses and resolves employee issues, including non-competition and non-solicitation agreements, providing advice on hiring and terminating employees, and preventing or defending unemployment claims.

Adam is a true business lawyer, and loves to play a role in all aspects of a business’s lifespan, from initial organization, securing financing, adding employees, managing growth and expansion, preparing for sale, and, when necessary, winding down and dissolution.

Practical Business Experience:

Adam is unique among business and transactional attorneys. He has practical experience as the owner of several small and medium sized businesses of his own. He understands the legal needs of your business, and the role that legal decisions play in relation to your business decisions.

Adam knows what it takes to make a payroll, to keep old customers happy while winning new customers, to negotiate contracts and deals, and navigate the bureaucratic rules and regulations of governmental offices. He has also personally gone through the difficult process of terminating employees and challenging unemployment and workers compensation decisions.

Adam’s law degree and practical business experience complement each other in a way that allows him to understand how your legal needs not only impact the creation and growth of your business, but the day-to-day operations as well.

In addition to his law practice, he currently owns a professional photography and videography business as well as a firearm training school. Adam is also a co-owner and film producer with Sabre Stone Productions, a motion picture company focusing on the development and production (filming) of full-length feature films. Adam has also previously owned multiple security companies. Adam also has experience in the automotive industry, having previously owned multiple automotive repair shops at various times, including an entire chain of auto repair shops employing dozens of Coloradan’s up and down the front range.

Gun Laws & Firearms Instructor:

Adam has been a gun enthusiast his entire life. He started shooting as a young boy and continued through his time as a Boy Scout and in the military. He currently holds a Colorado concealed handgun permit, and is a member of two local private shooting ranges.

It was only natural that he expanded his business practice to include gun laws, principles of self-defense, and limited criminal defense for self-defense situations. Adam also regularly teaches seminars on the laws of self-defense and the criminal laws often implicated with self-defense.
